H.J. Heinz Company Foundation

Nation by Nation. Family by Family. Child by Child.

Good food is more than our business. It’s fundamental to life itself. As a leading global food purveyor, Heinz has established the H.J. Heinz Company Foundation to promote the health and nutritional needs of children and families around the world.

Making a Difference Around the World

Since 1951, we have been working to promote health and nutrition in the places where our help is most needed. Our groundbreaking Heinz Micronutrient Campaign is one example. Because more than 750 million children worldwide are affected by iron-deficiency malnutrition, this novel program allows Heinz to use our resources to help alleviate micronutrient malnutrition in developing nations around the world.

Our Mission

The H. J. Heinz Company Foundation was established in 1951 to make contributions to further the public welfare. Funded each year by the H.J. Heinz Company, the H. J. Heinz Company Foundation is committed to promoting the health and nutritional needs of children and families, with priority given to programs in communities where Heinz operates. The Foundation proactively donates funds to develop and strengthen organizations that are dedicated to nutrition and alleviating malnutrition, diversity, and fostering healthy communities. The Foundation supports socially responsible endeavors and encourages Heinz employees to participate in voluntary activities in support of charitable organizations.

The Foundation also encourages Heinz employees to get involved in their communities, become volunteers for charitable organizations and, in short, do their part to improve the lives of others. The Heinz Employees Lending Public Service program encourages employee volunteerism while providing a monetary reward for their organizations to receive up to a $500 grant annually, based on their hours of service.

Heinz strives to be a generous benefactor in the communities where we operate. For instance, in our hometown of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, the H. J. Heinz Company Foundation is a highly visible donor to organizations such as the Greater Pittsburgh Community Food Bank, the Pittsburgh Public Theater and Operation Warm, to name just a few recipients.

The Community Grants Program is a joint H. J. Heinz Company Foundation/ Heinz North America funded program which provides grant dollars to Heinz factory locations for community investment.

Each year, committees from each HNA affiliate chooses organizations in their respective communities which will benefit from these grants in the areas of nutrition, diversity , and fostering healthy communities. These organizations include food banks, abuse shelters, educational institutions and other organizations which help the people in their communities wherever needed.
